Further reading and some direction elsewhere has shown me the way I was told to calculate the gear ratios is obviously incorrect and Ill try and clarify them, Don't forget to incorporate the gear...

recalculating using: http://www.calverst.com/technical-info/gearbox-formulae-for-fd-tyre-size-car-speed-and-gear-ratio-calculation/ gives 1st 3.62 2nd 2.17 3rd 1.1411 which would be a minor 1098 box....

For those who may be following this thread, gear ratio = number of teeth on driven gear divided by the number of teeth on the driving gear. An example would be an MGB differential, which has 41 teeth...

Got to have the mainshaft and laygear shaft removed (Move the laygear to the side) to get reverse out. Remove the reverse idler gear shaft set screw from the bottom outside of the case. Turn the case...
